The musical instrument amplifier is continually evolving, from purely vacuum tube designs to the modern digital effects, computer processors, and vacuum tubes. It is quite naive to believe vacuum tube theory and practice has no place in the present digital world. Some modern amplifiers use not only the +5, +15, and -15 dc voltages, but also have dc voltages as high as 725 volts on their vacuum tubes, which poses deadly consequences to the untrained technician.
