Mandarin Chinese - Making an Appointment with the Doctor
In this animated activity, the learner listens to a dialogue in which a caller speaks with a receptionist to make a doctor’s appointment. The learner can then click on a number of medical terms to hear their pronunciation in Mandarin Chinese.
Learners read about audiological tests including pure tone testing, air conduction, bone conduction, Speech Reception Threshold, and Speech Discrimination Score. They listen to sounds and words recorded at different decibel levels and see a graphic representation of decibel ranges. A brief review concludes the activity.
The student sees a list of 30 of the most often misspelled words used in business. In one exercise, the student listens to each word and then keys in the spelling of that word. In the next exercise, the student matches synonyms.
