What happens to air as a stove heats it?
The iron spiral-like circle blocking the fire, heats up the air, so it would be either Convection or Radiation.Posted by John Huftel on 11/14/2016 8:16:13 AM Reply
It heats up because of radiation.Posted by BRENDAN RARDON on 2/16/2017 2:14:14 PM Reply
As the stove heats the air it turns hot
the air as a stove heat it, then it will turn hot
As the strove heats up it will get hot because its conduction to the pot
The molecules will start moving faster and they will move apart which will cause the hot air to rise
The molicules start moving because of the conduction of the eye to the pot, then the pot to the water.
The air heats up
As the stove heat rises the air gets hotter.
when the molecules in the air get faster and when the molecules spread out, the air will get hotter.
it gets hot
What happens to the air when a stove heats it is it becomes warmer. This happens because the air gets more energy. It also rises because fluids are lighter than cold fluids.
The air heats up then rises, cools, sinks down, heats up, rises and conduction starts
air gets hot
a very giant star
What warms the Earth through radiation??
the sun heats the earth through radiation
The sun radiates the earth.
THE BEAUTIFUL SUN!!!!!
the sun heats the earth through radiation
The air molecules
definitely not the sun
How is heat measured and in what units
by a baromether and in degrees celsius or farenheit
As a form of energy heat has the unit joule (J) in the International System of Units (SI). However, in many applied fields in engineering the British thermal unit (BTU) and the calorie are often used. The standard unit for the rate of heat transferred is the watt (W), defined as joules per second.
Heat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The average translational kinetic energy of the molecules of a system and the units are watts Celsius or Fahrenheit
The molecules and the density
celsius and farenheit
just because of the sun
It is measured with a thermometer and it is measured in Celsius or in Fahrenheit
Celsius and Farenheit
I dont get it
what do you not get?
I get it so far.
Uhh..... was that really a question? cuz' i dont get it too.
what are two good thermal conductors?
what are 2 bad thermal conductors?
styrofoam and paper
paper and wood
wood and paper
where do i find info about thermal conductors on this activity?
where can i find info on why conduction works so poorly in liquids and gases?
Why does a hand need an oven mitt in order to pick up the pot from the stove
to not get burned
Because conduction is being transferred to your hand if you don't wear the mitt so then you would get burned....
The heat from the pot will soak into your hand because it has higher heat than your hand so you need the oven mitt.
So you wont get your hand badly hurting
Because if you don't have any protection from direct heat, the conduction will burn you.
What is radiation
When electromagnetic waves go thru the air, for example from the sun, and heat up the air and even buildings, or the ground
When electromagnetic waves travel thru space.
It is a transfer of thermal energy by waves that travel through the air.
A type of thermal energy
What is the transfer of Conduction
The Transverse heat between substances.
It is the transfer of thermal energy between particles of matter that are touching.
Okay so when you don' t use a mitt to help you take out the hot pan what might happen and what caused it also why??
when they put their hand on the heated handle they will get burned. So they put he mitt on so they don't get burned.
The hotness of the pan will be hard to hold the hot pan. So that is why everybody should use mitts when they are going to hold something hot.
What objects can radiate energy
can u tell me what is four good conductors and four poor conductors.
Wool Water Wood Rubber, Poor
Iron Steel Copper Aluminum, Good
Iron, steel, metals, aluminum (good)
Paper, pencils/wood, glass, rubber (Poor)
cats dogs bugs babys(poor)
homework apartments people (good
Write a few everyday applications of conduction of heat
when walking on the beach on a hot day the sand is hot
walking on the sidewalks in summer with bare feet.
walking on ice bare feet
Why do darker colors absorb heat and lighter colors reflect it?
what are 4 examples of convection?
conduction is the transfer of heat bettween
i need help i don't under stand that well so please. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you - I used this lesson to reinforce our introduction to convection, conduction and radiation in our 3rd Grade Homeschool Science Lesson this week. The animation really helped drive home the points!Posted by Paula Iaconis on 6/4/2008 12:00:00 AM Reply
